NVMe inkompatibel? Lenovo OEM...

Mahlzeit,

ich tausche ja gerade Hardware durch, und aktuell sind SSDs dran. Eine neue freie 1TB soll übernehmen, was bisher auf einer 512GB war, die bekommt dann das, was eine 256er anderswo stemmen musste, usw.

Haken: Die 512er will nicht im Zielsystem. Handelt sich um eine Lenovo LENSE20512GMSP34MEAT2TA, die aus einem TP25 stammt.

Notgedrungen hab ich inzwischen im alten Desktop geklont, damit zumindest der Laptop wieder nutzbar ist.

Laptop (TP25): frisst alles - 256, 512, 1024
Desktop alt (D3348): frisst alles - 256, 512, 1024 (und weitere)
Desktop neu (H11SSL): frisst alles, bis auf die 512.

Dass die SSD grundsätzlich einen weg hat, kann ich ja durch die Funktion in zwei anderen Systemen ausschließen.
Dass das Epyc-Board einen Hau hat, kann ich mit 6 anderen SSDs widerlegen, die in zig Kombinationen am Onboard-M2, in einem x4-Chinaadapter und auch mit Bifurcation x4x4x4x4 (Asus Hyper M2) in einem dafür freigeschalteten x16-Slot perfekt funktionieren. Alle übrigen SSDs auf der Karte erscheinen, nur die 512er nicht. Selbst eine x1-Flachbandverlängerung war testweise dran, um die SSD auf eine Lane runter zu zwingen - andere machen das, die Lenovo macht es nicht. Sie erscheint schlicht nicht im BIOS und folgerichtig auch in keinem gebooteten OS.

Welche Stellrädchen im BIOS könnte die Mimose denn noch benötigen, dass sie sich zur Zusammenarbeit überreden lässt? Bei NVMe/M2 Firmware Source machen AMI Native und Vendor Defined keinen Unterschied, OPROM Disable/Legacy/EFI macht keinen Unterschied, Bifurcation x4/Auto macht keinen Unterschied (hab noch kein x8 oder x16 probiert) und SR-IOV-Support an/aus bringt auch nichts. Board-Firmware wurde schon vor den ganzen Tests (aber nach dem initialen "oh fuck, beim Ausbau kaputt gemacht") von der 2.0 auf 2.4 hochgezogen - ändert auch nix. PCIe Link Speed wie im Handbuch beschrieben gab es afair in keiner Version...

Mein H11SSLv2 war auch ultrazickig mit mehreren NVMes im m.2 slot. Hab dann am Ende aufgegeben und ne Asus Hyperbla Quad-NVMe-Card geholt.

Knappe zwei Jahre später bin ich wieder an dem Punkt, wo ich gerade was auf eine NVMe schmeißen müsste, aber keine andere frei ist.
Also von einem USB-Gehäuse, in dem sie sauber funktioniert, in ein Asrock B450M-HDV eingebaut.

...geht auch nicht.
Inzwischen hab ich auch ein anderes USB-"Gehäuse" (SSD freistehend), in dem sie funktioniert.
Und ein 4fach Thunderbolt-Gehäuse, das NVMes direkt durchreicht. Die schafft es im zweiten Anlauf.

Einige ASRock AM4 Boards mit 300er und 400er Chipsätzen haben wohl Kompatibilitätsprobleme mit bestimmten M.2 SSD:

Auch wenn Deine wohl nicht in der Liste steht, so kann sie trotzdem betroffen sein, denn es werden kaum alle SSD von ASRock getestet worden sein, vor allem wenn es um OEM SSDs geht.

MSI B450 A PRO ist nicht mit der Patriot P300 kompatibel! Auch nicht mit dem neusten Bios Update.
