1.5mm Gelid GP Extreme pads didn’t work with my Bykski 6900 xt block. They were too thick and the gpu die was not making contact with the block resulting in high temperatures.
@Holzmann Also I made a lake of liquid metal because I though it also may be because of too little liquid metal. I know it was risky but I wanted to do this successfully and never bother with it again so I just put a lot
It was a nightmare man, I spilled water everywhere, I drained the loop 2 times. My back hurts a lot. Honestly it was not worth it but my temperatures are good right now so I am happy
@Holzmann I changed the pads back to bykski pads. now at 300 watts current temps is 39-40 and junction is 52-53, the thermal pads were too thick I guess
The die is 100% covered. The reason I didn’t cover 100% of the waterblock is because when I opened up the card and there was thermal paste, I saw that the thermal paste didn’t cover all of the square on the waterblock, the edges were empty. So I left it empty again so that the LM doesn’t touch...
If I use both nail polish and electrical tape and be careful, it is almost impossible to break my gpu right? I am kind of scared but I am going to do it.
I am going to apply liquid metal tomorrow on my 6900 xt, I am going to use both nail polish and electrical tape around the die just to be safe. Anyone got any tips or tricks before I apply it?
