80GB-Platte, es werden nur 32 angezeigt!

Hallo Leute, erst mal Grüße, ist mein erster Posting <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">

Ich hab mir ne 80GB-Platte von Maxtor zugelegt, leider wird die von BIOS nur als ne 32GB erkannt! oje... ok, hab nach dem BIOS-Update geschaut nichts da... (mein Motherboard: "MS-6154 micro atx va693a"

OK, nun hab ich ne Frage ob es trotzdem irgendwelche Tricks gibt damit es 80 angezeigt werden? Ich hab keine Ahnung.
Kann ich diesen "IDE-Controller" (oder so) verwenden um die Platte dort anzuschliessen? braucht man dann irgendwelche Treiber?
Oder gibt es irgendwelche Treiber für Windows damit die Platte korrekt angezeigt wird?
... oder soll ich mir gleich ein neues Board kaufen?

Es funktioniert nur wenn du ein Bios Update machst ansonsten müßtest du die einen Promise 100 Controller kaufen oder einen Raid Controller die sollten dann die HDD korrekt anzeigen die haben ihr eigenes Bios kosten in etwa 100DM

ists nicht so, dass nur 32 GB pro FAT32 Partition gehn?

Schau mal im Fdisk vorbei, wie gross die Platte wirklich ist, und dann musst du halt Einteilen..

nehmen wir an, 76 GB sind nutzbar...
C:\ 13,xx GB (System + Programme)
D:\ 32 GB (MP's, Downloads, Games)
E:\ 32 GB (Filme, CD-Images)

Oder du machst unter Win2k/XP folgende aufstellung:

C:\ (FAT32) 13,xx GB
D:\ (NTFS) 64 GB

Das Problem bei NTFS ist, dass die Cluster 64 KB sind...

das Bios erkennt immer die volle Festplattenkapazität das hat nichts mit Partitionen zu tun und win9x erkennt auch höhere Parti`s als 32GB die Cluster werden dann aber und da hast du recht auf 64KB geändert <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

wenn das bios nur 32 gb erkennt und kein bios update verfügbar ist nimmst du einfach einen diskmanager...

Danke Leute! werde mir das Teil "Maxblast" mal reinziehen, nur leider funktioniert mein Diskettenlaufwerk nicht mehr... (neues Problem <IMG SRC="smilies/wink.gif" border="0"> )

Als es so komische Geräusche gemacht hat (Schleifgeräusche) habe ich das Laufwerk durch ein neues ausgewechselt, das neue Laufwerk funzt nicht, das Licht brennt (die LED) dauernd, wenn ich jetzt das andere Laufwerk wieder anschliesse brennt die LED auch, Kabel vertauscht?.. nein, hab alle möglichen Kombinationen ausprobiert... was kann das denn sein?

du hast das floppy kabel verkehrt herum angeschlossen <IMG SRC="smilies/wink.gif" border="0">
alle eingelegten disketten werden gelöscht...
in der regel muß pin 1 (der ist rot markiert) in richtung der stromversorgung liegen <IMG SRC="smilies/wink.gif" border="0">

also Diskettenlaufwerk funzt. Hab Maxblast ausgeführt, es werden aber auch in der Software 32 (jetzt sogar 33) GB angezeigt... ich glaube die Software liest die Werte von BIOS... und BIOS sagt halt den shit..
Ich glaube ich werde mir neues Motherboard oder wie das der Stormxl gesagt hat "Promise 100 Controller"

Das Programm Maxblast tut nichts anderes als die Platte partitionieren und formatieren. Toll, das kann ich auch mit Partitionmagic <IMG SRC="smilies/wink.gif" border="0">

32 GB limitation. This condition is caused by the Award BIOS
inability to address hard drives greater than 32GB. Award has been made aware of
this issue and has fixed their "core" BIOS as of 6/99. They are passing this
information along to the motherboard manufacturers' that use their BIOS. Updates
for the BIOS should be available soon from individual motherboard manufacturers'
to correct this problem. The following are options to overcome this hang condition:
Please contact your motherboard manufacturer, not Award, for a BIOS update.
If your motherboard manufacturer does not have an update available, please
contact the following companies for alternative solutions:

Install the Capacity limitation jumper (J46) and use the
Maxblast Plus installation software to complete the installation. Please refer to hard drive

Hi, Problem gelöst!
also ich habe erst mal alle Jumperkombinationen ausprobiert und es hat geklappt! (ohe Maxblast) in Bios werden "80" angezeigt, aber am ende hat es sich als 80GB rausgestellt.
