AMD strikes back!

AMD will keep Socket A going until the end of next year - and of course Mr Hammer will use a different socket.
AMD has always been good at keeping the voltages down, and we understand Mr Barton - who comes after Mr Thoroughbred, will keep that low power stuff moving.
AMD is going to say to its channel - you can't have this - it's just for OEMs and for ODMs - and that, the INQUIRER predicts - will cause a terrible fuss.
Of course, in the USA, the amount you have to spend on advertising cannot be considered monopolistic by the government there, because of course, the federal government believes in free trade...
However, the good news - if there is good news here - is that AMD has managed to complete its move to SOI and .13 micron - and so the deadly embrace will continue. µ

Trotzdem muss ich noch sagen, dass bis auf dass mit dem Sockel A, der nur bis ende nächsten Jahres laufen soll (wo erst der Barton kommt) alles glaubwürdige News...

Wie ich das sehe, gibts folgendes:
- Der Palo wird am 9 Oktober gelauncht
- der AMD 761 bekommt das B4-Stepping
- Das Organic Pin grid array beim Palo kommt
- Der Sockel A wird bis Ende nächsten Jahres laufen (gibts den Hammer dann auch im Costumer-Bereich, wiel 64Bit Games gibts ja noch nicht...)
- AMD kann jetzt .13µ und SOI (ich würd sagen, die sollten mal den Barton schon in die heisse Phase schicken)
