Pre-Load Four Begins
Seemingly unhindered by the ongoing court battles, HL2 continues to march towards a release with the fourth pre-load being released over Steam today. Here's Valve's take straight from Steampowered. It should be noted that if you have the CS:Source Beta, this pre-load was included in the last CS:S update.
Half-Life 2 Pre-Loading Phase 4
The fourth phase of the Half-Life 2 preload begins to Steam account holders today.
This will allow users to download the majority of Counter-Strike: Source in encrypted form. No purchase is required to pre-load Half-Life 2, but is required to activate the game. The moment the game is made available, those who have pre-loaded and purchased the game via Steam will be ready to start playing.
For the uninitiated, these "pre-loads" download game content in advance, taking some slack for the Steampowered network which will no doubt be flooded at release time. Now with much of HL2 and CS:Source's game content on gamers' machines, there can't be too many more pre-loads before we hit release.
