SnapRAID Sync Problem

Hallo zusammen,

ich nutze OpenMediaVault 3 als NAS und will von einen klassischen RAID auf MergerFS + SnapRAID (mit 5 8TB Seagateplatten) wechseln.

Die Datenplatten habe ich bereits befüllt. Auf der vollsten Platte sind 6 TB belegt.

Problem:

SnapRAID meckert beim initialen Sync, dass ich zu wenig Platz auf der Paritätsplatte habe...

Als ich es mal mit Prehash + sync probiert habe, hat SnapRaid ein 4,2 TB Paritäts File angelegt.
Addiert man den fehlenden Platz aus der Fehlermeldung, kommt man ungefähr auch die Menge der vollsten Platte.

Hat jemand eine Idee, woran es liegen kann, dass es nicht funktioniert?

Ist die hdd mind. genau so gross wie doe größte datenplatte? Das liegt daran, dass du zu viele kleine Dateien wohl hast. Mach mal "snapraid status" und da steht "wasted". Das bedeutet, dass bei deiner blocksize von 256kb dazu führt, dass jede kleinere Datei "aufgebläht" wird. Die kann man reduzieren, was aber in einer höheren Systemlast beim sync führt. Was du auch machen kannst: die Dateien auf zwei Hdds aufteilen oder eine zweite paritalätsplatte. Lies dir mal das Handbuch durch.

Ja, alle Platte sind gleich (groß und BTFS formatiert).
Ich hab mal geschaut. Er meckert auch eine Platte an, die nur halb voll ist und nur ca 500 Dateien beinhaltet.
Also an vielen kleinen Dateien kann es daher eig nicht liegen.
Kann es sein, das SnapRaid keine ParityFile mit mehr als 4 TB erzeugen kann?

snapraid status geht scheinbar erst nach der ersten Sync.

Ich kenne zwar nicht die genaue Ursache, aber SnapRaid war wohl nicht in der Lage eine Parity-File mit mehr als 4 TB anzulegen.
Ich hab die Platte mal gelöscht und als XFS neu formatiert. Jetzt scheints zu klappen.
