Der 0624 GPMW klingt super (weil GPMW bekannt vom Superstepping 0547 GPMW), kann aber leider nichts
Aber es ist ein 4000+ für die Sammlung.

I noticed it runs 17x229MHz fsb.

Die Tendenz stimmt wohl. Bin immer noch baff.
Da muss ich mich bei CBO bedanken.

Der SI128 passt bei dem Neo2 haargenau rein. Sowohl beim RAM wie auch bei der GPU.

Ich habe da noch eine Frage.
Ich habe die CPU zuerst mit meinem DFI getestet, da es eine bessere Spannungsversorgung hat als das MSI. Das DFI hat aber ein seltsames Problem mit SuperPi. Die CPU scheint stabil zu sein und die PI Berechnung fängt mit normalen Schritten an und dann später bricht die Zeit ein und jeder Schritt dauert das mehrfache an Zeit. Geht das vom board, vom Chipsatz oder von dem OS aus? Das ist merkwürdig. Ich habe das Phänomen, soweit ich das beobachten kann, bei OC. Kennt ihr das? SuperPi meldet wohl keine Fehler oder so. Das MSI board macht sowas nicht.

Glückwunsch, für so ne Cpu hätten einige damals förmlich getötet 3.3ghz 32M ist echt super mit LuKü.

Das Problem mit dem 32M habe ich nicht oder ich habe es (noch) nicht bemerkt. Der Thermalright ist definitiv ein feiner Kühler, ich hab ja den SI-128 SE. Top Teil und auch heute noch gut dabei.

Danke! Die CPU bleibt vorerst in dem board um ein paar AGP Karten zu testen.

Ich denke, ich werde nochmal WinXP installieren und mit einem anderen Controller austesten. Vielleicht ergibt sich ja was und das Problem verschwindet. So kann ich das board nur eingeschrenkt nutzen.

Der SI128 war mein zweiter Thermalright. Sind bis heute neben den Alphas meine lieblings Kühler. Mein SI128 SE ist derzeit in dem Rechner bei meinen Eltern. Hoffe, der findet irgendwann noch den Weg nach Hause.
Den SI128 SE hatte ich mal auf dem FX8350 drauf. Da kommt der ins schwitzen, bzw. an seine Grenzen. 😅

My only S940-CPU is pictured above. So unfortunately I can't try.

But since there are only single-core-CPUs on ASUS' official support list I highly doubt any dual-core-processor will work. Maybe with a bios mod - but ootb there is little to no chance - imho.

Well actually... So far for dual cores: Compared to B1, good OC potential on air but better CB. So when strong on air might be better.

I have made some long therm plans for dual s940. After tomorrow I will have 28x Opteron 254 (B1) and 3x Opteron 256 (B1). I hope it is enough to bin 2x a 4GHz validation cpu so I can validate it for dual cpu.

Zur Batch hatte ich nicht wirklich viel gefunden, aber es ging mir auch mehr darum, überhaupt erstmal einen zu haben.

Now I see why stunny recently bought those 25x 939 Athlons, he felt a disturbance in the distribution of K8 CPUs and had to balance things.

Curious to see what spread you'll find when binning those.

Well at least they should all do 2.8GHz @1.35v. So I expect an air OC range of 3.1 - 3.4GHz at least.
It is max FSB that counts for me most.

I have a strange thing with my SK8N board when installing XP (32b). I tried SATA and IDE (SATA on IDE) ports. When formatting the drive or (when formatting on another pc first) copying files it won't go past 0%.
Any idea what this can be?

I already disabled some BIOS features which does not seem to help.
When I enable ACPI it is even slower...
Tried several ports, intergrated drivers (with NLite) and an HDD instead of sata or SATA on IDE.
Install hangs sometimes. And when it does show "choose drive" it hangs at formatting or copying files.
Tried install from USB as well and was even worse.
Not sure how they installed back then but seems impossible
Asus made the "wise" choise to not use the SATA ports from NF3 but integrate a promise controller. This seems to suck as well.

Now trying for at least for 4 hours. Going to 7 now. XP is dead on this board. Tried everything there is. Just not supported on this board as it seems. XP is dead.

First results for 7: Not possible as well. One board for sale...

Never mind: Put the board in a waste bin —> Got it out but won’t be using it for now. This board has real issues.

After getting that board back… I swapped all HW I could on my SK8N and flashed my bios to an older version. Win XP install works like a charm.
Well sometimes crashes on installations on HW, but seems fine now. Swapped gfx and memory back. Those were fine like expected.
No idea what happened yesterday but it acted really strange.
I am even able to set voltage, multi and FSB in XP (Tested with an FX-51).

Nachdem ich jetzt ja schon 2x Glück mit den K8T Neo2-F V2.0 Bundles hatte, hab ich mal wieder was entdeckt und aufgrund der CPU zugeschlagen. Jetzt hat der kopflose Bruder (der kommt ebenfalls von nem K8T und primelt die 310x10 bei 1,475 Volt) eben auch eine schöne Zwillingsschwester.

Die ist aber leider ziemlich zickig und scheitert (unter meinen Ansprüchen) knapp an der 3 GHz Mauer (295x10 1,475 Volt) Kommt daher auch wieder weg, da ich schon mehrere 2,95 GHz Chips liegen habe. Wer also so etwas im Bereich Dualcore <1,4V/2,9 GHz sucht, bitte melden...
