Albatron Technology recently announced its newest high performance VGA cards, the PC 6600 and PC 6600GT. With these cards, Albatron is banking on a strong C/P ratio to attract potential customers looking to move up to a more powerful, long-term graphics solution. These cards, featuring the new PCI-Express interface are scheduled for a September launch and expects to become the first GeForce PCI-Express VGA cards without the PCI-Express bridge solution.

The PC 6600/6600GT VGA cards will use the newest PCI-Express interface specifications. This technology expects to supplant its predecessor AGP interface in the near future, with most recent mainboard designs already supporting PCI-Express. The PCI-Express X16 is capable of 4 MB/s data transfer rates, surpassing its AGP counterpart in both bandwidth and overall performance and making the new PCI-Express interface a necessity for future gamers and power users.

The PC 6600 VGA card will employ the nVIDIA GeForce 6600 GPU with a core clock of 300 MHz. It will also use 128 MB of DDR memory with a memory clock of 500 MHz. The PC 6600GT card will use the GeForce 6600GT GPU with a core clock of up to 500 MHz, higher than that of a PCX5900 GPU. The PC 6600GT card will employ 128 MB of DDR3 memory (using BGA packaging) with high overclocking potential. The memory clock for the PC 6600GT card is 1 GHz. The 128-bit memory interface is also expected to enhance 3D gaming performance for both cards.

Both the PC 6600 and PC 6600GT will fully support Microsoft’s DirectX 9.0. They will also support Shader Model 3.0 which is expected to be used by some of the hottest games on the market including Doom3 and Far Cry.

The PC 6600/PC 6600GT cards will contain a suite of nVIDIA’s most advanced line-up of technologies boasting the best true-to-life color and animation. CineFX 3.0, Intellisample 3.0, Ultra Shadow II and a 128-bit theater head up a star-studded list of outstanding graphics technologies. Finally, the PC 6600GT card will contain nVIDIA’s new SLI technology (Scalable Link Interface) designed to support dual PC 6600GT cards running in parallel in the same system.

Both the PC 6600 and PC 6600GT cards will have 2 RAMDACs with 400 MHz digital transfer rates and resolutions up to 2048 x 153 x 32 bpp (@85hz). Both cards will also support nView dual monitor technology. These cards will also contain a D-SUB port, a DVI port and a TV-OUT port. The cables that will be bundled with these cards include an “S-Video to AV cable”, an “S-Video cable” and an “AV adapter cable”. Bundled software will include a WinDVD 4-in-1 Pack (Home Theater, WinDVD, WinDVD Creator, DVD Copy), ARX FATALIX, and a 5-in-1 game pack CD-ROM.

The Albatron PC 6600 and PC 6600GT VGA cards will be riding the fast lane with true PCI-Express and nVIDIA’s latest, most powerful GPUs. These cards will feature the farthest reaching graphics technologies to date and look to become the front-runners in high-end VGA cards.
