“Volari™ Z7 is unique because it is tailor-made for a specialized market and flexible to support DDR/DDRII/GDDRIII. This design’s elasticity allows better accommodations to our client’s needs and extends their product life cycles. Furthermore, we continue our commitment to the full system test and the very best software support.

XGI Technology Inc, the largest Graphic Chip Design Company in Asia, today announced Volari™ Z7, the newest GPU for a specialized market. This innovative product has a 2D graphics engine that directly supports PCI bus and DDR/DDRII/GDDRIII. XGI is recognized worldwide as the Volari™ brand has set milestones for notebook and desktop GPUs. In addition to a top-to-bottom product line for computers, the introduction of Volari™ Z7 fulfills other specialized markets such as Servers and Thin Clients.

“Volari™ Z7 is unique because it is tailor-made for a specialized market and flexible to support DDR/DDRII/GDDRIII. This design’s elasticity allows better accommodations to our client’s needs and extends their product life cycles. Furthermore, we continue our commitment to the full system test and the very best software support.” said Po-Han Lin, Senior Product Marketing Manager of XGI. “Based on our notebook GPU technology advancements, Volari™ Z7 guarantees lower power consumption, lower thermal requirements, and higher stability. Our goals are to continuously improve and to fully satisfy our diverse clients.”

Volari™ Z7 processors fully utilize XGI's highly optimized memory architecture which efficiently transforms an enormous amount of data between the processor and graphics board memory. Leveraging sophisticated compression-based algorithms, the highly optimized memory architecture effectively doubles the amount of data flowing to and from the DRAM and optimizes image processing and media streaming. Volari™ Z7 not only supports PCI bus with extra stability, it also supports DDR/DDRII/GDDRIII, 8-128 MB DRAM, and has the most efficient 16/32 bit DRAM bus. Furthermore, the direct support of the PCI bus eliminates the interface bridge cost between AGP and PCI. Though the size of Z7 is smaller than other chips, the design of it is more advanced and complex. Moreover, XGI has developed an array of software support for the wide range of platforms. By utilizing Microsoft DirectDraw, the system only uses HALF the number of transistors of a similar technology. The result of this breakthrough technology means low power consumption, good thermal solution and stability.

Volari™ Z7 supports up to 1600x1200 display resolution and fully support Microsoft Windows 2000 Server, Windows 2003 Server, Windows 2003 Server EM64T, RHEL 3.0, RHEL 3.0 EM64T, RHEL 4.0, NetWare 6.5 (Dos Mode), SUSE 9, DOS, and future platforms. Currently, Z7 supports AMD64 and will support IA64 in the future. Volari™ Z7 is a tailor made GPU for the server, thin client, and other specialized markets; the flexible design along with many product advantages allows XGI to fulfill its diverse product line.
