Ohne große Vorankündigung hat Apple seine Desktop-Produktlinie aktualisiert. Neu sind ein Mac Pro mit "Nehalem-Xeon" Prozessoren, ein iMac mit NVIDIA GeForce 9400M und auch ein aktualisierter Mac mini gehört dazu. Nebenbei haben auch der Airport Express und die Time Capsule ein Update erfahren.
Der neue Mac Pro basiert nun auf Intel Xeon Prozessoren auf Nehalem-Basis. Diese arbeiten mit 2.26, 2.66 oder 2.93 GHz und sind als Single- oder Dual-Prozessor-System verfügbar. Der Speicherausbau beginnt bei 6 GB und ist bis 32 GB möglich. Als Grafikkarte kommen entweder eine NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 mit 512 MB Speicher oder eine ATI Radeon HD 4870 mit ebenfalls 512 MB zum Einsatz.
Quad-Core Mac Pro ab 2299 Euro:
- one 2.66 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon 3500 series processor with 8MB of shared L3 cache;
- 3GB of 1066 MHz DDR3 ECC SDRAM memory, expandable up to 8GB;
