[Sammelthread] Clevo P37xSMx(-A) SLI/CFX Gamer Notebook (2013/14)


Das Clevo P370SM(3) und P375SM sowie P377SM treten die Nachfolge des P370EM(3) Barebone an. Zum Vorgänger scheint das P370SM optisch beinahe identisch zu sein. Das P375SM und P377SM bietet ein neues Gehäuse Design und zusätzlich ein beleuchtetes Touchpad. Beide Geräte gemein haben eine beleuchtete Tastatur und den Intel HM87 Chipsatz mit Haswell Prozessor Support. Ebenfalls werden die 28nm-Refresh High-End Grafikkarten der nVidia 700M Serie und AMD 8000M Serie unterstützt. Auslieferung der Geräte von den Resellern (wie bekannt teilweise unter eigenem Namen) ab Juli 2013.

Im Jahr 2014 bekamen die Barebones ein kleines Facelift. Das P370SM-A sowie P375SM-A und P377SM-A unterstützen die neuen GeForce GTX 880M 8GB und GTX 870M 6GB Grafikkarten. Dazu kommt eine Tastatur mit erweiterten Beleuchtungseinstellungen. Ebenso soll sich die Sound-Qualität verbessert haben. Verfügbarkeit der Geräte von den Resellern (wie bekannt teilweise unter eigenem Namen) ab Ende März bis Anfang April.​

Auf der positiven Seite hätten wir vor allem die erstklassige Leistung. Dank der Option auf einen zweiten »Grafikbomber« stellt das Guru Earth V die versammelte Konkurrenz in den Schatten. Lediglich das 18 Zoll große Alienware 18 oder andere Notebooks auf Basis des P370SM respektive P375SM Barbones sind würdige Gegner. Die individuelle Konfiguration und die exzellenten Wartungsmöglichkeiten bringen dem Gerät ebenfalls Sympathie. Als weitere Kaufargumente sehen wir die angenehm kühlen Gehäuseoberflächen, die stylishe Backlit-Tastatur und die üppige Anschlussvielfalt (Thunderbolt-Port!). Wer seinen Desktop-PC in Rente schicken, bei der Performance aber keine Kompromisse eingehen will, kann ruhig über eine Anschaffung nachdenken.

Die Grafikkarten entfachen zusammen mit der schnellen CPU eine Leistung, die derzeit wohl nahezu konkurrenzlos ist: Schneller können Gaming-Notebooks kaum arbeiten, selbst Crysis 3 und ähnlich anstrengende Spiele meistert das Notebook problemlos. Unfortunately, the AMD driver is not perfect. Graphic errors and performance fluctuations are not part of any description of an ideal GPU. Those users who want to be on the safe side should use the Clevo driver or pick an Nvidia system, as this main competition offers a much more balanced performance with their SLI system and drivers.

Einen ordentlichen Eindruck hinterlässt das matte FullHD-Panel. Es ist zwar angenehm hell und kontrastreich, könnte dafür etwas gleichmäßiger ausgeleuchtet sein. Darüber hinaus ist es ab Werk sehr blaustichig abgestimmt, was Nutzer von farbkritischen Anwendungen zum Nachkalibrieren zwingt. Alles in allem ist das Schenker Notebooks XMG P723 Pro ein Powerhouse, wie es im Buche steht, das Performance-Enthusiasten zurecht auf der ganzen Linie lieben werden. Wer mit etwas Vernunft an die Sache herangeht, der würde sich aber einen noch etwas runderen Gesamtauftritt und in erster Linie eine leisere Kühlung wünschen - solche Kunden soll das P723 aber auch gar nicht ansprechen.

Wie erwartet setzt sich das Schenker XMG P723 mit dem Nvidia Geforce GTX 780M SLI Gespann, vier 512 GB SSDs und dem stärksten mobilen Prozessor, den man bekommen kann, an die Leistungsspitze. Wir freuen uns, dass das SLI Gespann während unserer Tests keine Anzeichen auf Mikroruckler lieferte und ärgern uns, dass der Prozessor den vollen Turbotakt unter Last nicht ausfährt. Die Hardware ist allererste Sahne, Display und Sound bleiben Qualitativ aber auf dem immer noch angemessenen Niveau der Einstiegsvariante für 1.700 Euro „zurück“.

An Leistung mangelt es dem 17-Zöller ebenfalls nicht. Mit einer SSD arbeitet das Gerät ungemein flott. Spieler profitieren in erster Linie von der mächtigen GPU-Kombination. Nur wenige Notebooks liefern derzeit eine vergleichbare Power. Leider sorgt der AMD Treiber für etwas Unmut. Grafikfehler hier, mäßige Performance dort: ein optimales Spielvergnügen sieht anders aus. Wer auf Nummer sicher gehen will, sollte entweder die Clevo Treiber verwenden oder sich gleich ein Nvidia System zulegen. Der Hauptkonkurrent bietet insgesamt die ausgereiftere Dual-GPU-Technik.

Wer die Full-HD-Auflösung 1.920 × 1.080 mit maximalen Details und Kantenglättung inklusive anisotroper Texturfilterung nutzen möchte, sollte allerdings gleich zu den schnellsten verfügbaren Modelle greifen. Am besten eignen sich die GeForce GTX 780M von Nvidia und AMDs Radeon HD 8970M, wobei die Nvidia-Karte knapp die Nase vorn hat. Bereits mit der GeForce GTX 770M müssen Käufer große Einschnitte in Kauf nehmen und die GeForce GTX 765M ist für qualitativ hochwertiges Spielen auf Desktop-PC-Niveau bereits zu langsam. Die Leistungsunterschiede fallen dabei wesentlich deutlicher aus, als man das von den Desktop-Karten gewohnt ist.

Mit der GeForce GTX 765M SLI erhält man ein bärenstarkes Duo, das selbst vor neueren PC-Titeln nicht zurückschreckt. Die relativ gute Bild- und Tonqualität trägt ebenfalls zum positiven Gesamteindruck bei.

Cooling performance is more than sufficient even when the GPU's are overclocked modestly. Fan noise is within reason and to be expected when there are a large amount of high TDP parts parked inside a slim chassis of a notebook form factor. The screen is beautiful and as usual, one of many great screen options that Sager offers with their notebooks. Additional accesory lighting is a nice touch, although it strays from Clevo's traditional basic look and may not be for everyone. Speaker bar light and rear tail lights are a bit bright and offering ability to adjust intensity and turn off the other lights would be a welcome addition.

Ansonsten kann das Gerät größtenteils überzeugen. Zwar reicht es in vielen Kategorien nicht ganz für ein »Sehr Gut«, im Vergleich mit der Konkurrenz steht das Schenker jedoch ordentlich da. Andere Dual-GPU-Notebooks wie das MSI GT80 oder das Aorus X7 Pro werden unter Last nicht nur lauter, sondern auch wärmer.

Insgesamt betrachtet gilt damit: schneller war in unseren Tests noch kein Notebook. Das macht sich allerdings auch beim Stromverbrauch bemerkbar, denn unter Volllast wird auch manches Desktop-System locker in die Tasche gesteckt. Die Kühlung hat die verbauten Komponenten gut im Griff und wird nicht übertrieben laut. Da aufgrund der SLI-Konfiguration auch Optimus nicht genutzt werden kann, ist es nicht überraschend, dass die Laufzeiten nicht allzu lang ausfallen. Für eine rudimentäre Mobilität reicht es jedoch aus – und für mehr wird das P724 Pro ohnehin nicht angeschafft werden.

There is not much left to say about the performance. Nvidia's GeForce GTX 880M (SLI) is the fastest hardware until the launch of the Maxwell counterpart. However, the dual-GPU solution has a negative impact on the mobility, the power consumption and the noise development. Whether at idle or running 3D applications, the fans are always audible. GPU throttling under maximum load and stripes on the display (depending on the background) are not perfect, either.

Zwar kann der 17-Zöller nicht mit einem IPS-Panel aufwarten, das entspiegelte Full-HD-Display ergattert aber trotzdem eine gute Note. Neben der Bildqualität weiß auch der Sound zu gefallen. Beim Chassis halten sich Vor- und Nachteile die Waage. Das P370SM-A Barebone aus dem Hause Clevo ist einerseits sehr groß und schwer, punktet andererseits jedoch mit vielen Schnittstellen, kühlen Oberflächen und einer beleuchteten Tastatur. Die Wartungs- und Upgrademöglichkeiten sind sogar referenzwürdig. Lediglich das Hochglanz-Touchpad will nicht so recht ins Gesamtkonzept passen.

While some things could be improved, like USB port placement on the left instead of right side, and limited thermal overhead for overclocking, there's little to complain about. The NP9377 is a solid package that can be configured with the latest top end components from CPU, GPU, LCD, RAM, and storage. This machine is highly recommended for anyone looking for a powerful desktop replacement who don't want to compromise in performance or component selection.

Was ist der Unterschied zwischen "glare" und "non-glare" Display?
Glare Displays haben eine spiegelnde Paneloberfläche und daraus resultieren starke Reflektionen. Bei non-glare Modellen ist die Oberfläche entspiegelt bzw matt und weist so kaum noch Reflektionen auf. In helleren Umgebungen beeinträchtigen die Spiegelungen die Sicht. Ein Vergleichsbild (Link) zeigt ein Glare-Type-Display (links) und eine mattierte Paneloberfläche (rechts). Der Lichtreflex (gelbe Pfeile) stammt von einer Leuchtstoffröhre und verdeutlicht den Unterschied.


Warum wird mir nicht der vollständige Arbeitsspeicher angezeigt?
Ab einem Arbeitsspeicher von 4096MB (4GB) ist eine 64Bit Version Windows 7 notwendig. Wenn mehr als 16.384MB (16GB) genutzt werden möchten, sprich bis zum Vollausbau von 32GB, ist dies nur mit Windows 7 Professional 64Bit oder Windows 7 Ultimate 64Bit möglich. Hierbei handelt es sich um eine künstliche Beschränkung Microsofts bei den "günstigeren" Windows 7 Versionen, genaue Infos in der Übersicht (Link). Bei Windows 8 trifft diese Limitierung nicht mehr zu.

In diesem Abschnitt findet ihr die aktuelle BIOS und EC Software für die jeweiligen Notebook Barebone Ausführungen sowie eine sehr ausführliche Anleitung zum aktualisieren der Firmware Teile.

UPDATE ANLEITUNG:

Vorbereitung:

a) Das Boot-CD Image runterladen.
b) Verzeichnis entpacken, das ISO auf eine CD brennen und ins Notebook Laufwerk legen.
c) Einen USB Stick mit FAT formatieren.
d) Das EC und/oder BIOS Archiv downloaden.
e) Alle Datein (ohne Ordner) auf den USB Stick entpacken.
f) Den Stick inklusive Update Datein an das Notebook stecken.
g) Der Akku muss eingebaut und geladen sowie Netzteil angeschlossen sein.

Durchführung:

=> wichtig: zuerst EC Firmware

01. Das Notebook einschalten oder neustarten.
02. Beim Startvorgang mit [F7] das Boot-Menü öffnen.
03. Die Boot-CD vom Laufwerk starten.
04. c: eintippen und [Enter] drücken.
05. ecflash eintippen und [Enter] drücken.

06. Wenn der Flashvorgang beendet ist, Notebook schaltet sich aus.
07. Netzteil entfernen für 10 Sekunden.
08. Netzteil anstecken.
09. Notebook einschalten und BIOS mit [F2] starten.
10. Prüfen ob EC Version mit mit neuer Nr endet.

=> zweitens BIOS & ME (falls vorhanden)

11. Das Notebook neustarten [STRG+ALT+ENTF].
12. Beim Startvorgang mit [F7] das Boot-Menü öffnen.
13. Die Boot-CD vom Laufwerk starten.
14. c: eintippen und [Enter] drücken.
15. meset eintippen und [Enter] drücken.

16. Wenn der Vorgang beendet ist, Notebook schaltet sich aus und start neu.
17. Beim Startvorgang mit [F7] Boot-Menü öffnen.
18. Die Boot-CD vom Laufwerk starten.
19. c: eintippen und [Enter] drücken.
20. flashme eintippen und [Enter] drücken.

21. Wenn das Notebook nach Fertigstellung sich nicht ausschaltet, Power Knopf gedrückt halten.
22. Netzteil entfernen für 10 Sekunden.
23. Netzteil anstecken.
24. Notebook einschalten und BIOS mit [F2] starten.
25. Prüfen ob BIOS Version mit neuer Nr endet.

26. Im Reiter "Safe and Exit" die "Load Setup defaults" bestätigen.
27. Mit "Save Changes und Reset" das Notebook neustarten.
28. Abschließend eventuell nochmal mit [F2] ins BIOS und Einstellungen vornehmen z.B. AHCI, UEFI Boot.

  • Over-voltage slider enabled (up to the maximum of 1.2v)
  • Activated thermal slider (to keep it cooler if desired)

Guten Abend,

ich habe zurzeit einige Probleme den richtigen Treiber zu finden.
Ich hatte seit ungefähr 1,5 Wochen den 13.4er oben, dann ging die Frame Zahlen bei den spielen extrem zurück.
Das einzige was ich in dieser Zeit geändert habe, war der Versuch den 13.9er zu installiern, das hat jedoch nicht funktioniert.

Zurzeit verwende ich den 13.8er oben, funktioniert zwar, aber ich bin dennoch mit den Frame Zahlen nicht zufrieden weil ich schon höhere hatte(explizit bei Skyrim, AC 3, CIV 5).

Mit welchen Treibern hattet ihr die besten erfahrungen?

Info: Im Startbeitrag gibts das "2nd-EC firmware 1.00.02 for P37xSM" Update, welche nicht die komplette EC Firmware erneuert, sondern nur einen Teil davon :wink:
 
Info: Die Service Handbücher sind verfügbar. Jene offenbaren eine P375SMF Variante, welche zwei verschiedene Arten Display Deckel Beleuchtung besitzt :wink:

Weiß ich leider auch nicht wie das aussehen soll. Habe bisher keine Bilder gefunden. Aber auf den ersten Blick im Service Manual hat die F-Version folgende zusätzliche Elemente, welche die non-F nicht besitzt:

Schon merkwürdig das von dieser Version bisher nichts geschrieben wurde. Intel führt diese bereits seit Juni in seinem Thunderbolt™ Technology Update (Seite 5).
 
Das P37xSMx verwendet ja den selben ALC892 Audio-Chip wie das P370EM, hat jemand das selbe Problem wie ich mit Windows 8.1?

ist die AMD HD8970 im CF wirklich so schlimm was mircoruckler und Grafikfehler angeht?
Spiele eig nur LoL und Bf4.
Und warum bietet HF eigendlich nicht das P370SM mit der GTX780M single an?
MySn macht es doch beim P723 auch.

Schade eigendlich, den das gefällt mir viel besser als das 177 Disco beleuchtete Teil^^

Was nicht auf der website ist, kann via telefon erfragt werden. Mach ich immer so :-). Hast du herrn Krämer schon gefragt, ob er dir das nb mit single nvidia verkauft? meine 7970 cf hatten seit August treiber bis dato so gut wie keine microruckler mehr.

Treiber entwickelt eigentlich keiner der Reseller/Retailer, empfohlen werden meist die Treiber von Clevo. Schenker engagiert sich zumindest für BIOS/EC Verbesserungen bzw Features, die entsprechenden Anpassungen nimmt aber Clevo selbst vor. Von anderen Anbietern in DE ist mir derartiges noch nicht zu Ohren gekommen (soweit ich mich erinnern kann), das liegt wohl daran das kaum ein kleinerer Händler Einfluss auf Clevo nehmen kann bzw ernst genommen wird?!

Naja direkt eigen entwickelt werden die nicht, nur das Bootlogo ersetzt ;-)

Selbst Änderungen an den Datein werden meines wissens zwar nicht vorgenommen bis aufs möglicherweise Bootlogo, dafür engagiert man sich bzw. testet selbst z.B. bei Verbesserungen bei den Lüftersteuerungen oder Hotkey, zuletzt beim P37xSMx, welche Clevo kurzer Hand allen Resellern zugänglich gemacht hat.

So, ich bin endlich wieder via Laptop online. Nachdem mein P370EM beide gpus gekillt hat, hab ich mir beim Händler meines Vertrauens ein SM als upgrade geholt -.-
Ich konnte alle Treiber für Win7 64 organisieren. Falls wer nach hotkey für win7 sucht: http://drivers.prostarserver.com//P375SM/HK_7.00301.zip
Bios hab ich von Startseite (sfvogt) genommen, ich hab jetzt laut 1.03.01 sowohl Bios als auch EC, ME Firmware 9.0.20.1447. Ist das korrekt so?
Was mir angenehm aufgefallen ist: Kühlsystem ist viel besser, aber auch lauter. Gestoppt werden die Lüfter nie, dafür hab ich rund 15-20 Grad weniger schon mal beim unigine valley, das kam beim 7970 cf Gespann auf über 90, jetzt irgendwo bei knapp über 70, das ist schon heftig. Die Kühlung ist sehr massiv und wuchtig, finde ich.
Ahso, ja sind 8970M drinnen + 4700MQ, letzter AMD Treiber vom 7.11.2013. Läuft gut soweit :)

Temperaturen wie oben. 0 Unterschied. Kann das sein, dass AMD den Firestrike Test erkennt und die GPUs drosselt? Ich stelle in den gpu-z logs immer wieder verringerte GPU Auslastung und sogar 300/150 Taktung von GPU und VRAM fest.
