distilled water help

Hi forum members,

I need your advise on this brand of distilled water:

Is this a good to go its a german brand and i have extreme dificulty to find distilled water here in Holland or if i find its demineralized water wich i dont want. But the store is specialised in watercooling for pc and they included this brand of distilled water. Il be using it together with a silver kill Coil wich i already have.

There is a difference between distilled water and other distilled water?
In my opinion you can use whatever you want as long as it's called distilled water.

But maybe i'm wrong...

btw: last week i bought 5 liters from Aldi Süd for less than 2 euro.

I tought i could buy it at any place, but thats not the case. Yes i went to the supermarket lots of them not one sold it except demineralized water. I went to other shops no succes either. Until i went to the online watercooling store wich they have the brand of distilled water i mentioned above. And wanted to know if that brand is good to go?

most users here are using watercooling mixtures avaiable in watercooling-shops or like me demineralized water + BASF G40 (or equal). no need to get expensive destilled water. so there will be not too much experience with that product here

No the water i mentioned is not expensive 2.00 euro a bottle 1 Liter, it states its plain distilled water, i sjust want to be sure its not some demineralized water sold as distilled water wich i saw to much in some stores here. Altough the water i mentioned is sold at a specialised store for watercooling for pc.
The thing is there are places where i can buy distilled water but when i read the back of the bottle it reads clearly its demineralized water, wich in turn is not 100% distilled water for me distilled water means free of minerals and algea, bacteria. So its kind of misleading to put distilled water at the front of the bottle and when you read the back of the bottle it reads demineralized water. I also read that the best way to watercool your wc rig is with distilled water together with PT-nuke or Silver kill coil. Pre mixed water like for example feser pure water is just advertisment its almost the same as plain distilled water but you pay more for it. The use of dye colored water is not advised because it can glog your blocks with residue of the dye. And thus you need to clean your rig more often, (drop in temps) then when you use plain distilled water with silver coil or PT-nuke or some something similar.

if ur using a laing pump u should add for example G40 to have a bit "oiling"-effect and a longer lifetime of your pump. just destilled water would be a bad choice. bacteria will be also "killed" or avoided due to G40 and the copper in ur rig. so no problems with that

back to the question: if you need the really destilled water u can buy every brand. no difference. but I would say: there is no need for it

Hello Sniper.

Don´t worry about using "just" demineralized water. It is nearly equal to distilled water, but much cheaper. The next advantage is, you can buy it in every supermarket.

But you have to pay attention to one point. Don´t use demineralized water only. You should mix it with an additional liqiud for car cooling circuits. The best way to get this liqiud is, to ask for in a car dealership. It is called G40 and it is a product of the Volkswagen AG.

Don´t hesitate to ask, if there are further questions.

As your rig (blocks, radiator, pumps) isn't perfectly clean when you fill in the water (laboratory conditions) it wont make any differences weather you use distilled or demineralized water.

You need some additive, no matter what kind of water you chose. There will always be some dust in the rig making bacteria grow.
And even if you can ensure that there're only copper waterblocks in your watercooling system, there will be different alloys ("Legierung") as pure copper is very difficult to machine. And brass in the fittings.
Corrosion will be very slow and partly invisible to the eye...
