Hi Basti,
I got an email from that costumer today as well.
About your question, yes, we've created the new revision because there's
more versatility this way. Since we provide two black stripes to use
with the lightbox. One when you have our midplate and another when you
don't. The reason for that because of the screw and nut that fixes the
side panel plexi window. You need a hole for the nut to be and to avoid
warping the side panel. There's a 3mm difference in height between using
our midplates and not using it. if we didn't do that, we would need to
create an even bigger oval hole for both situations, and that would be
even worse, i think.
If we didn't revise the lightbox like we did, you'd need to buy a new
lightbox when or if you bought our midplates and that would be very lame
on our part to not see that coming, and not have prepared our lightbox
to be used with another of our products or a variety of situations. The
alternative would be to create two more versions of the lightbox and
that would be confusing for our costumers. We already have some products
like that and we will need to simplify them in the future.
I don't really think the screws are an issue, ence the reason why I did
it like that, because you also have them on the psu plate and they are
aligned with one another to make things more discreet. i'm not entirely
sure on how big of an issue this has become, but i think that it's more
about the product being diferent from the pictures, than anything else.
There is also another reason for this revision. It's simpler and faster
to produce the lightbox like this, and this way i can guarentee that
there is no glue stains on the black plexi at the bottom of the
lightbox, something that would be hard to avoid on the old revision.
but i guess i'll have to see how costumers reach to the change. i will
be closing down the store soon, so i will update all products with
pictures and instruction videos to avoid situations where you get
something that is slightly different from the pictures.
kind regards,
Ricardo
