Hallo liebe Athlon XP-M User und die, die es werden wollen,

Wir (OCPerformance und meine Wenigkeit) haben uns gestern dazu entschieden das „HWL – XP-M – OC-TEAM“ in die Welt zurufen. Es gibt im Netz noch viele User die dieses Thema brennend interessiert aber die nicht wissen was man damit anfängt. Ich möchte ganz von vorne beginnen:

Viele werden bei dem Thema Mobilprozessoren in Desktoprechnern stutzig. Dies ist vollkommen verständlich da es eher unüblich ist einen Mobilprozessor in einen Desktoprechner zu verbauen. Diesen Sachverhalt möchte ich nun klären. Am Anfang muss man sich überlegen was Mobilprozessoren, die eigentlich in Notebooks eingesetezt werden, mit Overclocking zu tun haben. Das ist relativ einfach zu erklären. In einem Notebook kommt es daruf an, das man relativ viel Leistung mit einer geringen Abwärme verbindet. Dies schaffen Mobilprozessoren. Denn eigentlich sind es normale Desktop CPUS die von AMD selektiert wurden. Sie schaffen also denselben Takt wie ein Desktop Prozessor nur mit weniger Spannung. Hier kommt das Thema OC und Abwärme ins Spiel. Wenn ein Mobil Prozessor für einen bestimmten Takt weniger Spannung braucht als ein Desktop Prozessor hat man nach hinten raus mehr Spielraum für die Prozessorspannung. Denn es gilt: Je mehr Takt -> desto mehr Spannung wird benötigt. Ich möchte an dieser Stelle ein praktisches Beispiel vorzeigen: Ein normaler Athlon XP mit 1,65V Core Spannung benötigt für seine 2080MHZ die genannte Spannung. Ein Athlon XP-M 2600+ braucht für 2000 MHZ nur 1,45V. Bei dem normalen Athlon XP ist dann mit 1,85V V-Core bei ungefähr 2300-2400MHZ Schluss.
Ein Athlon XP-M 2600+ schafft mit dieser Spannung Taktraten jenseits der 2,6GHZ Grenze.
Top Modelle schaffen unter Kompressorkühlung Taktraten jenseits der 3GHZ Marke. Daran seht ihr welches Potenzial in diesen Mobilprozessoren steckt.
Was bringst ??? Ein Athlon XP-M 2600+ mit 2700MHZ nimmt es locker mit einem Athlon 64 FX-53 auf. Ein XP-M 2600+ und 2,8GHZ nimmt es dann mit einem Athlon 64 FX-57 auf. (Da sich bei dieser Behauptung scheinbar viele User auf den Schlipps getreten fühlen betone ich nochmals dies sind Erfahrungen unsererseits auf verschieden Gebiten (nicht allen) und kein Angriff auf die neuen Prozessoren. Uns ist klar das wir den Fortschritt nicht aufhalten können aber wir haben halt Spaß daran zu basteln und das letzte aus unseren Maschinen zu holen. Und in manchen Gebieten weiss der Athlon XP-M wohl andere Prozessoren zu schlagen. Das wollte ich einfach loswerden. Wer sich also über diese Behauptung beschweren will macht bitte einen anderen Thread auf, dafür ist es ja ein Forum.
(Dies sind erfahrungswerte-> es kann nicht garantiert werden da es bei jedem so gut klappt, aber sehr oft klappt es.)
Es kommt dazu das ein Athlon XP-M 2600+ nur rund 100 Euro kostet.
Nun zur Frage was braucht man dafür: Das beste ist, das der Athlon XP-M auf allen Sockel A-Boards läuft. Man benötigt also keine Extra Hardware wenn man jetzt schon ein gutes Sockel A Board besitzt. Man sollte aber in ein gutes Board + guten Speicher investieren, da man so die Ergebnisse weiter steigern kann. Die 2,8GHZ sind also nur unter optimalen Bedingungen möglich. Eine Wasserkühlung wird empfohlen aber nicht unbedingt benötigt.

An dieser Stelle möchte ich erklären was man im einzelnen benötigt um einen flotten XP-M Recher auf die Beine zu stellen:
Als erstes benötigt man natürlich die CPU und fängt es an schwierig zu werden. Nicht jeder Athlon XP-M der als solcher verkauft wird ist auch einer. Es gibt sogenannte "DTR" Prozessoren. Das sind Dektop Replacement Versionen die die gleiche Spannung haben wie eine Dektop CPU. Daher sind sie ungeigneter als die echten XP-M´s. Die echten XP-M Prozessoren sind die 2600+ Prozessoren. Ein gutes Stepping lautet zb. IQYHA FQQ4C 0352 RPMW/MPMW. Wenn ihr also fragen habt wo ihr noch einen herbekommt dann helfen wir euch einen zu finden. Als nächstes braucht ihr natürlich ein Motherboard was einen hohen Takt zulässt. Dazu eignet sich das DFI Lanparty NF2 Ultra B oder das DFI Infinity. Das heisst nicht das es mit anderen Boards nicht klappt aber dei den DFI´s ist die Chance am größten. Die besten Biosversionen zu den einzelnen Boards findet ihr oben (Vielen Dank an OCPerformance für die Auflistung). Als nächstes solltet ihr auf den Speicher achten denn der sollte eine hohe Taktrate verkraften und zugleich mit niedrigen Latenzen laufen da der Athlon XP-M von hohen FSB Taktraten profitiert. Die Speicherbandbreite ist also sehr entscheident für die Benchmarks. Speicherirgel mit OLD BH-5 oder TCCD Chips eignen sich dafür. Auch an dieser Stelle werden wir euch helfen den richtigen speicher zu finden. Für eine gute Kühlung sollte ausserdem gesorgt sein. Eine Wasserkühlung ist ideal. Wer allerdings mit einem herkömmlichen Luftkühler arbeitet wird auch seinen Spaß haben. Meine CPU macht zum Beispiel auch 2,8GHZ mit einem Thermalright SP 97. Bei nur 38°C. Das Gehäuse sollte gut durchlüftet sein und ansonsten wars das eigentlich. Die Fesplatte und die Grafikkarte haben keinerlei Einfluss auf die Ergebnisse. Wenn noch fragen sind dann fragen.

Hallo liebe Athlon XP-M User und die, die es werden wollen,

Wir (OCPerformance und meine Wenigkeit) haben uns gestern dazu entschieden das „HWL – XP-M – OC-TEAM“ in die Welt zurufen. Es gibt im Netz noch viele User die dieses Thema brennend interessiert aber die nicht wissen was man damit anfängt. Ich möchte ganz von vorne beginnen:

Viele werden bei dem Thema Mobilprozessoren in Desktoprechnern stutzig. Dies ist vollkommen verständlich da es eher unüblich ist einen Mobilprozessor in einen Desktoprechner zu verbauen. Diesen Sachverhalt möchte ich nun klären. Am Anfang muss man sich überlegen was Mobilprozessoren, die eigentlich in Notebooks eingesetezt werden, mit Overclocking zu tun haben. Das ist relativ einfach zu erklären. In einem Notebook kommt es daruf an, das man relativ viel Leistung mit einer geringen Abwärme verbindet. Dies schaffen Mobilprozessoren. Denn eigentlich sind es normale Desktop CPUS die von AMD selektiert wurden. Sie schaffen also denselben Takt wie ein Desktop Prozessor nur mit weniger Spannung. Hier kommt das Thema OC und Abwärme ins Spiel. Wenn ein Mobil Prozessor für einen bestimmten Takt weniger Spannung braucht als ein Desktop Prozessor hat man nach hinten raus mehr Spielraum für die Prozessorspannung. Denn es gilt: Je mehr Takt -> desto mehr Spannung wird benötigt. Ich möchte an dieser Stelle ein praktisches Beispiel vorzeigen: Ein normaler Athlon XP mit 1,65V Core Spannung benötigt für seine 2080MHZ die genannte Spannung. Ein Athlon XP-M 2600+ braucht für 2000 MHZ nur 1,45V. Bei dem normalen Athlon XP ist dann mit 1,85V V-Core bei ungefähr 2300-2400MHZ Schluss.
Ein Athlon XP-M 2600+ schafft mit dieser Spannung Taktraten jenseits der 2,6GHZ Grenze.
Top Modelle schaffen unter Kompressorkühlung Taktraten jenseits der 3GHZ Marke. Daran seht ihr welches Potenzial in diesen Mobilprozessoren steckt.
Was bringst ??? Ein Athlon XP-M 2600+ mit 2700MHZ nimmt es locker mit einem Athlon 64 FX-53 auf. Ein XP-M 2600+ und 2,8GHZ nimmt es dann mit einem Athlon 64 FX-57 auf.
(Dies sind erfahrungswerte-> es kann nicht garantiert werden da es bei jedem so gut klappt, aber sehr oft klappt es.)
Es kommt dazu das ein Athlon XP-M 2600+ nur rund 100 Euro kostet.
Nun zur Frage was braucht man dafür: Das beste ist, das der Athlon XP-M auf allen Sockel A-Boards läuft. Man benötigt also keine Extra Hardware wenn man jetzt schon ein gutes Sockel A Board besitzt. Man sollte aber in ein gutes Board + guten Speicher investieren, da man so die Ergebnisse weiter steigern kann. Die 2,8GHZ sind also nur unter optimalen Bedingungen möglich. Eine Wasserkühlung wird empfohlen aber nicht unbedingt benötigt.

Ein Athlon XP-M 2600+ mit 2700MHZ nimmt es locker mit einem Athlon 64 FX-53 auf. Ein XP-M 2600+ und 2,8GHZ nimmt es dann mit einem Athlon 64 FX-57 auf.

Könnt Ihr das mal mit Benches oder ähnlichem Vergleichen.
Oder wie kastriert ist der FX57, das der langsamer als ein XP-M 2600+ @2,8 Gig ist?

ich hab gestern z.b.im sockel A stammtisch die info bezüglich burn in gesucht. hab aber mit der suche funktion nix gefunden. also mußte ich alle seiten durchackern. is ja ziemlich faad sowas.

also ich finde die idee sehr gut und hoffe auf eine gute umsetzung

Er hat aber geschrieben, dass ein XP-M@2800MHz an einem FX57 vorbeizieht.

Das halte ich in allen Belangen für ein Gerücht.

Der FX57 ist 2 Sockelgenerationen weiter, hat 1MB L2 Cache, 64Bit, und eine pro MHz Leistung , wovon ein Barton nur träumen kann.

Keine Ahnung wie ihr das anstellen wollt, aber ich lass mich überraschen.
Hatte selbst mal nen 2600+@2800MHz.

Grafikkarte 6800GT @ Ultra (400/1100) bzw. 6800 ULTRA(400/1100)

Athlon XP

= 61 FPS

Noch nicht wirklich gross der Unterschied ich denke der Athlon XP limitiert sehr ? Und das Bild wurde um den Februar gemacht..

Dafür seid ihr 1 Jahr zu spät dran.

Ich hatte selbst mal einen XP-M @2,7Ghz und der konnte Leistungsmäßig nicht mit meinem damaligen P4C M0 @4,13Ghz mithalten... Dann den Verlgleich mit einem FX zu ziehen halte ich für eine gewagte These.

Warum ein Pentium M ,wenns ein für gleiche/weniger Geld ein A64 gibt ?

Ich weiss die Bilder zum Aquamark und das ist noch etwas undokomentiert ,aber ich habe gestern meine 6800GT AGP aus der RMA bekommen. Und werde ab nächste Woche testen. Dann kann ich euch ja mal 23k in 01er , 13k in 03 und 6k in 05er zeigen ,wenns die Grafikkarte macht

weil es stabilere Bretter gibt, weil ich weniger Verlustleistung hab, weil der P-M den A64 fickt, und weil der P-M der Tualatin Nachfolger ist. Das hat was mit Image zu tun...

Bei mir hat Intel seit ihrer Pentium 4 Geschichte/Ausnutzung seines "monopol" nix mehr mit Image zu tun....

Mag sein das P-M genauso schnell ist ,aber AMD kann schneller nachlegen bzw. hat schon 64Bit + Dualcore. Und ich glaube erst in 1J ahr wirds was schnelles von Intel geben

Was hastn du für ein Problem? Kannst es wohl nicht wahrhaben, dass der XP-M nix mehr reißt

Sry aber wenn ich sowas lese, weiß ich nicht wer der größere Fanboy ist, wobei ich eigentlich kein Fanboy bin ^^

Dualcore kommt mit dem Yonah. Der P-M ist nicht "gleich schnell", sonder 200-300Mhz schneller als ein hochgezüchtetes A64 SYS

wenn alles Sachlich bleibt alles kein Problem

und die Xp-m sind schon deswegen was besonders weil sie sich sehr gut OC'en lassen und immernoch sehr gut im rennen sind gingen die anderen
