Conclusion
When you have the pleasure of testing a laptop with brand new technologies, you always have great expectations about the performance. And of course, this time was no exception. I gladly accepted the offer of doing a review of this computer, and i gotta say that even though my expectations was quite high, i underestimated it's performance by a mile!
With the impressive performance of Intel's Santa Rosa and the GeForce 8600 GT with DirectX 10 support, the Znote 6625WD is begging to be your new playground!
The Znote 6625WD is clearly a looker, with a stylish casing and no "bling-bling" or signs that says "hey look at me, im right here!". The overall looks of this laptop is high above the average laptop.
Zepto Znote 6625WD is the very definition of quality.
That was some of positive words i had to offer. The Znote really earned it. Although it's performance is astounding, some things maybe should have been diferent. For example, now that there is a TPM chip, the security could have been completed with a fingerprint reader. Even though the 6625WD motherboard and case design is reused, the VGA port should have been replaced by a HDMI and or a DVI port. If Zepto can change this feature before the Znote 6625WD hits the shelfs, that should be a first priority for them. Second, Zepto should have a chat with NVIDIA about their drivers for the graphics chip.
The pricing of the 6625WD is currently unknown, but a little birdie sang into my ear that i should expect a price that could be a small notch above the prices of company's current high-end laptops, which already is widely known to be the best Bang-For-the-Buck.
All in all, Zepto Znote 6625WD is a really nice laptop, which clearly comes with the best recommendations:
Pro's
- Impressive gaming performance
- The newest of laptop technology - Santa Rosa and NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT
- Good casing quality and nice design
- Keyboard quality
- The Security provided by the TPM chip
- Most likely, the best Bang-For-The-Buck
- HD-DVD drive upgrade-option later this year
-
S-VHS will be replaced by HDMI
Con's
- Toucpad (buttons)
- No DVI or HDMI port on the proto type we testet
- Severel prototype-problems; Bad battery-life, unstable, lack of proper drivers.
The tested laptop is still not in a state of mass production, so this should not be considered a negative side of the product. These flaws can corrected by the manufacturer whitout notice, before release.
