I would like to say that CoD7:BO will have a form of LAN called Authenticated-LAN Play, or more harshly pseudo-LAN.
In this system, taking your example of 40 ppl in one room and one internet connection, all 40 people MUST have their OWN STEAM ACCOUNT with an already activated copy of BlackOps on their account for each of the respective players. Run 2 – 3 20/32 port dumb-switches w/ auto-uplink, connected to a router, connected to a working active internet connection. All 40 ppl must log into their Steam accounts in Online Mode on which has their copy of BlackOps and updated to latest version. They all must execute CoD7:BO from the Steam Library, which will allow for authentication. Once everyone has launched BO and at the main menu, someone should be selected as host and they will run a Listen Server on their machine in the LAN, to which every other player can use the Server Browser to connect to.
If you’d like, you can reserve a 41st steam account / copy of blackops / personal computer, that will be used as the listen server, and on that 41st machine, the player can stay in spec-mode and be used for demo recording / theater-mode recording / or live streaming both in-house or online. (I believe the two are actually synonymous if you think about it in CoD7′s case).
The only reason you need an internet connection is for Steam / BlackOps authentication. No one will be downloading or uploading anything, unless someone never allowed steam to update their game, or you’re live streaming to destination over the internet. Which by the way will not affect anyone in the LAN battle.
To sum up…the LAN offered in CoD7 is a compromise but ultimately better than the MW2 solution.
Dafür das man dann im LAN online sein muß. Ein fragwürdiger LAN Moduses wird einen lan modus geben!
