Zuerst meine Anfrage:
1. Problem:
The HDD is the only IDE device. It is connected to the SATA1 port. The BIOS-Settings are:
IDE Operate Mode: [Enhanced Mode]
Enhanced Mode Support On: [S-ATA]
S-ATA as RAID: [No]
With this configuration the system reboots during POST. Before the reboot the Message "Auto-Detecting 3rd Master.. IDE Hard Disk" appears for a split second.
The HDD works fine if I switch to the following BIOS settings:
IDE Operate Mode: [Compatible Mode]
IDE Port Settings: [Primary P-ATA+S-ATA] or [Secondary P-ATA+S-ATA]
How can I use the S-ATA drive with Enhanced Mode?
2. Problem
It is not possible to start WinXP with 8 or 6 USB ports enabled. A short while after WinXP has started the system hangs. WinXP works fine if only 4 USB ports are enabled. I've WinXP SP2 and the latest Intel Chipset Drivers installed.
I can use all 8 USB ports in MS-DOS. For example, I can boot from an USB stick from every port to MS-DOS.
How is it possible to use all 8 USB ports with WinXP?

#1 if you were using the ide ,please do not connect your hardisk to the sata1, that was let for the satas .you could connect to the other slots left for the ide raid slot.
#2 please intall the usb2.0 drivers for the xp system.

I dont't understand this. I've one SATA-HDD. This is the only drive. No other SATA or PATA drives. Simple question: Is it possible to run this single SATA drive with the P4P800 SE motherboard? If yes, what are the suggested BIOS settings for this setup? It doesn't work with the default settings. I've tried all available BIOS versions.

Which USB 2.0 drivers? As far as I know WinXP SP2 comes with USB 2.0 support out of the box. I've also installed the latest Intel Chipset drivers. Are there any other drivers I've to install?
Daraufhin wieder Leon:
If you were using just one SATA hardisk ,please connect it to the ICH5R controller and it is ok. you do not have to connect 2 SATA hardisks. set the sata to the enchanced mode if you were using XP.
Ask you to install the USB 2.0 is to make sure that your computer could fully support the USB 2.0
Ich weiss nicht, ich weiss nicht ...
