Since few people around here are using the 865G version of Neo2 board I think it would be useful to share my experiences with it.
I a previous thread
core center and bios voltages someone mentioned that dual channel is disabled while using the on-board video. This is not completely accurate: no software utility is able to detect it but BIOS reports dual-channel,
tiled mode. This is Intel?s implementation for 865G chipset, see
http://www.intel.com/design/chipsets/applnots/25303601.pdf.
In CPU-Z the Channel# field is empty and disabled, memtest86, AIDA and Sandra report one memory channel. A memory bandwidth benchmark with Sandra will produce a score of over 4000 MB/s, which is only possible with a dual-channel setup (correct me if I?m wrong :hypecrite
. Moreover, the memory bandwidth varies with the resolution of the on-board video (makes sense).
Performance mode setting is not available in BIOS when the on-board video is being used, but it nicely appears when a video card is installed in the AGP slot. In this case the memory bandwidth goes up in 4900MB/s range and the boards acts like an 865PE one. So the answer is: Yes, you can have PAT/MAT with 865G Neo2, if you don?t use the on-board video .
Hope this info will help a few people (confused as I was
).
