Usually you can't match the efficiency of low latency at 270Mhz with TCCD, even at 300+ Mhz. Depending on the achievable clocks on your 2x512 and 2x256 sticks you might want to run the dual ranked 512mb, as these also have a little efficiency boost over the 256mb ones. Usually the smaller sticks won't compensate it with higher clocks.

I'm not sure if this also applies when TCCD sticks (binned on chip level) come into play. Iirc bschicht86 has made some sticks with clock 310Mhz+ at 2.5-3-3 in memtest. Same applies for winbond though, i expect chip-binned winbond to clock 250 at 3.2V and 260 at 3.3V easily. Maybe 280-290Mhz at 3.7-3.8V.

Iirc the best bios for expert is the latest, as DFI made adjustments to the ram tables. On the regular Ultra-D you got four options: some modbios with different sips (-1/-2-3) and the last official. Dfi ported the expert ram tables to ultra-d.

Jaaaa, ich weiß doch das 2-2-2 bei 270+ besser für Benchmarks ist als 300 CL2.5. Es geht mir wie Eingangs betont erstmal wirklich nur um den Spaß am hohen Takt bei TCCD, völlig gleich ob das sinnvoll für 32M Performance o.ä. ist. Sonst könnt ich die ganzen TCCD hier ja verkloppen und nur meine BH/CH-5 selektieren. Aber danke für die Bestätigung und ergänzenden Details .

Die -1/-2/-3 Versionen vom Ultra-D waren mir bekannt, da hatte funkflix ja erst vor Kurzem noch die alte TPU Seite anpassen lassen, aber für das Expert gab es keine so klare Wahl. Die von dir verlinkte TPU Seite hatte ich auch als Referenz genommen, um die Files auf der BIOS Bude einzuordnen, denn die TPU Links (z.B. für das letzte N4ED329) führen leider inzwischen auch ins Nichts.
Danke an der Stelle für den lejabeach Mirror (und BiosBude sowieso), da ist die N4ED329 noch bei - wird bei Gelegenheit auch getestet

Dr expert NF4ED06: Tested @2.80v and vdd @1.30v

Edit: Use orange slots. When running 1 dimm --> Run outer slot (inner slot will not post in SC).
Edit 2: I noticed that Max Async Latency @8.0ns will not boot 200MHz, but it does boot 280MHz...
Edit 3: A 305MHz boot is a fact now.

I found a 3500+ E3 BL without any coldbug at -60C (on my Single Stage). No coldbug post or boot. Not even a 1 MHz lower FSB boot then on air. Max FSB boot on air is 410MHz at 5x CPU multi.

At 8.5x I can validate 3400MHz:




First one I see without any Coldbug effects so far.

Mein FX-55 will partout nicht mit 13.5er Multi booten. Im Windows umstellen ist aber kein Problem. Board ist ein A8N-SLI Premium, RAM sind XMS3202v2. Hat da jemand eine Ahnung? HTT auf x3/x4 bringt auch keine Abhilfe leider.

Ich hab schwammige Erinnerungen an die wenigen Sessions aus der Zeit, ja . Das müsste damals dann bei Maxibition gewesen sein, oder?
Da hatte ich wenn ich mich gerade richtig erinnere erfolglos versucht mit meinem Maximus II Gene irgendwas auf die Beine zu stellen ...

Was den Multi angeht, steuert das Asus eventuell gegen, wenn deine HT + Multi Kombination mit dem RAM-Teiler krumme Taktraten ergibt o.ä.?
Ist definitiv mehr raten als wissen, könnte mir aber vorstellen, dass in dem Kontext das Board sagt für Teiler X bei HT sowieso gibt es keinen ,5er Multi.
Denke mal die Spezialisten hier im Thread werden eine größere Hilfe sein können .

I am glad I could do it. This was my 2nd run on ln2 with this cpu. The first run was not so good.
This time at -40C I already knew it was in there. It had so much room left.
If I could run it unlocked, I would for sure do 4.2GHz. At -80C it already booted better then at -75C. So still scaling.

Edit: 1 nice thing to know…
I had to restore win xp at -40C. I ran it stock on air first (ran great) and the first test at cold crashed it hard.

On ambient cooling the difference indeed is not that big.
I would say. Less bios issues/choices. And no issues with ddr voltage. Working on all modern psu.

I managed to repair my second dr expert. So it is fully working again!

I am actually thinking of selling my Ultra D because of this 3th board.

Nachdem ich seit Monaten keinen Grund mehr hatte mein DFI aus dem Regal zu holen gab es vor kurzem vielversprechenden Zuwachs:



Aber erstmal kommt der 6400+ für den TC ran.
Bin gespannt, was die CPU auf dem Gigabyte packt. Morgen hol ich dann LN2 und hoffe, dass der CB noch mitspielt.



Ärgerlich:
Das UD4, dass ich extra gekauft hab wirft mal wieder nur - - als debug aus. Hab den Verdacht der Verkäufer hat es nicht besonders gut behandelt.



Die glänzenden Stellen an den oberen Befestigungslöchern sind Reste von Sekundenkleber. Abgebrochene RAM-Halterungen runden das Bild ab. Alles nicht aus dem Angebot ersichtlich.

Das war wohl eine meiner nervigsten Erfahrungen aller Zeiten im Bereich OC.

Cold bug bei -46°C ohne Last.
Niedrigste Temp, um Cinebench noch laden zu können: -43°C, alles was kälter war gab nen sofortigen Reboot
Und ist jetzt auch nicht so, dass die CPU noch Luft nach oben hatte. Musste konstant zwischen -44 und -46°C bleiben, sonst waren die Cores nämlich am Ende.

Aber immerhin kaum ln2 verbraucht.

Am Ende bleibt es aber der K8 CB 11.5 Weltrekord

Ich hab mal meine ersten ernsthafteren Gehversuche beim S939 OC gemacht. Hier mit einem X2 4200+ Toledo auf dem recappten NF3 Ultra-D.

2,97GHz@1,424V load liefen auch noch, dachte ich brauch keinen Screenshot machen und geh direkt auf 3GHz... kein Boot
Dürfte mit etwas mehr CPU/NB Voltage aber leicht zu machen sein. Nur der vdroop schmeckt nicht besonders (ca. 50-70mV).

CPU scheint mit 2,87GHz@1,4V idle und 1,35V load erstmal stabil zu laufen.
