I'm sorry to hear about the mic troubles. If possible, can you send us an audio clip of what the mic is transmitting?
Here are some points to go over when troubleshooting your Modmic.
For the strange or silent Modmic:
Can you tell me about your set-up sound card/driver/OS?
Most 3.5mm mics will need mic boost- is that on?
Do other 3.5mm jack mics not have the same problem on the same port?
Is it loud on any other device/computer?
Does the orientation of the mic tip change anything about its signal? (i.e. is it possibly backwards internally or externally?)
Does toggling the mute switch do anything to the signal?
Do you have other audio input devices/microphones that could be interfering?
Are you able to manipulate the strain relief or cable and improve the sound quality?
If the mic did work for some time:
Was the cable/mute ever subject to physical yanking or hard pulling?
Did the mics output just completely quit or did it slowly die out?
Any idea on what happened to it?
Have you updated your audio drivers?
In the case that your mic is defective and within a warranty we'll get you a replacement sent out soon. All of our Modmics are under a year warranty against defects and factory issues. Modmics inside of the 30 day guarantee will be replaced with no additional cost of shipping.
We are aware of the issue with about 4% of the orders in regards to the magnet popping out. Just to be clear, the magnet that has come off or is loose is the one attached to the microphone, not the base clasp on your headphones, right? We can send you a new magnetic clasp next week.
I apologize for not being able to resolve the situation quickly, but we'll get you fixed up!
Cheers,Eli
